Glossary Term

CEA

A cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) is a type of economic evaluation comparing costs and outcomes of two or more interventions, expressing results as an incremental cost per unit of health outcome — typically cost per QALY gained. CEA is the cornerstone method used in NICE technology appraisals and other HTA submissions globally. Results are expressed as an Incremental Cost-Effectiveness Ratio (ICER).
